It all starts with you. Figure out your “WHY” and keep it posted where you will see it. Maybe your “why” is to be able to run a 5k with your friend or get into the overflowing wardrove in your closet. Maybe it’s simply to go shopping without getting short of breath or it could be even bigger….to dance with your grandson at his wedding in 20 years. No matter the why, it needs to be greater than a number on the scale. That’s simply a measuring tool! Remembering why you started and visualizing your end result will help in those moments of weakness. Focus on the benefits of your journey. In particular, when you feel discouraged, give yourself a pep talk or call your IP Coach.
Keep a journal.
Write down your resolution in detail and attach a measurable goal. Illustrate with the ups and downs of your quest and use them as a reflection at a future date when you need the encouragement. The journal as a therapeutic tool to get you through the tough days and rejoice in your accomplishments.
Dedicated weight-loss is hard work, but if you plan meals, events, and outings with a little forethought, you’ll be surprised at what you accomplish.
As an example, prepare one week of meals at a time. This simple activity will keep you in sync with your goals and save you time during the week. Our daily food journal helps you plan meals and prepares you to learn good habits for success long after weight loss is accomplished.

Let’s face it. Weight loss is hard and so is maintaining your success. Either way, it’s important to find supportive friends and family to encourage you in your decision of a healthy lifestyle. Don’t let the negative nelly’s drag you down. Studies show you are more successful when you surround yourself with positive people AND when you set goals WITH a friend. Two is always better than one. Invest in you.
When was the last time you indulged in something that wasn’t for the kids or spouse, but just for you? Perhaps, this is the opportunity to invest in yourself. When you invest money in a healthy lifestyle, you expect more and do more! Reaching your goal will be the ‘return on your investment’ you want to achieve. It’s important to take care of yourself so that you can take care of your family AND enjoy them!
Reward yourself for reaching goals, small or large. Specifically, treat yourself to something that will accentuate your success, like a new piece of clothing to show off the newfound figure. Once you reach your goal, don’t stop there. Keep the momentum going and extend your resolution or find your next challenge.
